Human costs of gadgets

These New York Times stories got me thinking: is there any way to stop this before it's too late?

Human Costs are built into the iPad

Apple, America, and the squeezed middle class

It's not an Apple-specific problem, Apple just illustrates how we have let our greed for better and cheaper gadgets get the best over our moral judgement.

Multiple iTunes libraries

You can use multiple music libraries in iTunes (and iPhoto). The choice is made at startup: just hold down the shift/option key when you click the iTunes icon.

In Windows the default music library is stored in C:\Users\You\Music\iTunes, in case you want to find it again.

iPhone RFID

Here's a nice video illustrating a possible iPhone accessory.
However, the more accurate name for it would be iPhone NFC.

Steve Jobs letter to Apple

Team,

I am sure all of you saw my letter last week sharing something very personal with the Apple community. Unfortunately, the curiosity over my personal health continues to be a distraction not only for me and my family, but everyone else at Apple as well. In addition, during the past week I have learned that my health-related issues are more complex than I originally thought.

In order to take myself out of the limelight and focus on my health, and to allow everyone at Apple to focus on delivering extraordinary products, I have decided to take a medical leave of absence until the end of June.

I have asked Tim Cook to be responsible for Apple's day to day operations, and I know he and the rest of the executive management team will do a great job. As CEO, I plan to remain involved in major strategic decisions while I am out. Our board of directors fully supports this plan.

I look forward to seeing all of you this summer.

Steve

Steve, get yourself back into shape!
All the best!

P.S. - Calling 'team' to a huge company like Apple really impressed me. It has a lot to do with Apple's corporate culture that set it apart from the rest of the industry.
