How to change Epson Scan software language

solveXP: Epson V33 scanner change language

Even after choosing the English language during installation of the Epson software it ignored the choice and default to a different language.

To fix: check the folder: C:\Windows\twain_32\escndv\... and from there remove the folders containing the languages I would never use. English is 0809.

Just open the .chm file belonging to the above mentioned folders to find which number corresponds to which language.

Thanks, this was a great help and allowed me to get the Epson Scan software to talk to me in English instead of Hungarian! Note: I found 3 copies of the "Local" directory where all the language files were - I cleared all 3 of them after the first one didn't make any difference!

Once again, thank you for your help.

Thanks very much for the advice, my Epson Scan software now talks to me in English instead of Hungarian!

Note: I found the language files in 3 different "local" directories under the WINDOWS\twain_32\cscndv directory. First I cleaned out "local" but that didn't help. Next I cleaned out cs00b9\local. That put most of it into English, except for some information about file formats. So finally I also cleaned out cs00b9\ffmt\local and now it all appears to be in English.

Thanks again for your help.

Thx for the tip, still works for Epson L365 in 2019.

I been trying to change the language to English for few hours ( uninstalled ,re-install ) etc...

Can't find the .chm file, so I just delete all the local languages except the 0809.

Most of the language IDs are a hex code of the language IDs used for windows language packs.
see https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/deployoffice/office2016/language-identifiers-and-optionstate-id-values-in-office-2016

So 1031 for german is 0x0407 etc.

But the installation falls back to its default language if you delete the language pack that corresponds to the chosen language during installation.

Thanks a lot; worked for me too.
But, as Patricia said, there is another Local folder under another folder. In my case it was escndv<es0116

Worked in 2021 for Epson v850 scanner.
Go to WINDOWS\twain_32\cscndv
Delete everything inside every folder named "local", except the folder for the wanted language (English: "0809").
Thanks!
